Love Is

Love is free. You don’t need to pay for your own ride, instead you will enjoy the ride. You don’t need to buy something out of it, instead you will be fulfilled when you say that you have no regrets because you loved. When two people understand each other it is pure. You take risk and it is for everybody.

I have experienced different kinds of love, and I defined it myself by its stages and ages too. This child like and young love, friendship, parent to child love makes me define that love is forgiving and understanding People bind themselves to be good-humored, patient and joyful. 

During my teenage years, love made me believe that I am already in love like it is forever. A fairy tale that I thought would never end. But is it actually love? Writing this made me reminisce my college days. During my heartbroken days, I held onto my friend's love for me. They are the purity in my life, who have given me their shoulder to cry on. And when I need them the most, they were there. It's rare to find true friends these days.

But the most important is the love of my family. No matter how bad I get or screw up they are always there in times of the lowest moments of my life. The bond with my family is unbreakable and for that, I adore my parents. Their marriage is my constant reminder that true love exists and that someone is praying for you to be with him or her forever.  It is more important to share your own values, beliefs and knowledge in everything despite the differences. Their marriage made me believe that love is immortal despite the hurt and pain that I have been through. In every heartache that I feel, I always say that “My heart is broken, my brain is broken, everything in life is broken.” (haha) but I just woke up with a Bible verse in my head and quote: “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” -2Corinthians 12:9; And its love. Investing your emotions is not wrong, because love is a gamble. You live and learn. I guess one can have a stupid heart with your first love or true love but when you learn to love again, it is a priceless feeling knowing that you have learned something from your past experiences, because you have so much love to share. To give.  





Now that I am in final 20s love has a deeper meaning for me. When you least expect it, love comes. Time will come that someone will come into your life who will not be scared to face all the challenges with you. Someone who will be proud for who you are, with what you have been through. Someone who sees the beauty of your inner strength, wisdom and will share with you his or her dreams come true. A constant companion for the rest of our lives.

Our Hometown Summer Escapade

Magallanes, Sorsogon City - Our hometown is known for the abundant resource of fish drying and fishpond culture producing milkfish, prawns, tilapia and mudcrab. Magallanes is considered a coastal town. It is also known for crop production such as coconut, rice, corn, vegetable, fruits and root crops too, so I decided to take my little sister and nephew there for a summer vacation.  How to Get There We took an early trip by Queens bus at 5:30 in the morning. Fare from Daraga to Sorsogon City is P74/head and from Sorsogon City to Magallanes Sorsogon is P75/head. It was a 3 hour trip from Daraga, Albay before we reach our destination. As a movie addict, I love watching action, thriller and comedy movies, but “Wild” truly captured my heart based on  Cheryl Strayed’s Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail . Reese Witherspoon portrayed the character of Cheryl Strayed who decides to hike a thousand miles alone to heal her broken heart, the death of her mother and unruly behavior. Mt. Buntis and Bonifacio Trial House

June 12, 2015 - My first solo hike was fun, so I decided to schedule my next hike for the coming long weekend vacation. And yes! I have nailed it. I decided to take the road less traveled by many, so I hiked at Mt. Buntis: On the Trail of Bonifacio. It is called such because of its pregnant belly of a woman. The Maragondon range comprises the form of this woman, with Mt. Palay-Palay at Pico de Loro (which I have climbed recently this month) forming the face. There are other 20 peaks at the Maragondon range, waiting to be explored and discovered. For me, it was an easy climb though it has a muddy trail because I consider it as a rainforest mountain. People living there are lucky because they get to experience rain these days. "Beautiful things don't ask for attention."  A quote from the movie Walter Mitty by James Thurber (One of the most popular humorists of his time.) It was a frantic Monday and beautiful things do not happen when you are caught in a traffic jam, walking under the heat of the sun in Manila. As usual, Manila's full of truck, buses, taxis and private cars that people of the Philippines deal with everyday. So I thought that it will be a tough day for me. Finally, the clock hit 11:50 a.m and it is time to see the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) my friend's alma mater. How to Get there From Taft Avenue, Manila take the LRT going to Gil Puyat station for P15.00 only. Upon arriving at Gil Puyat station take the DLTB bus going to Sta. Cruz/Calamba Laguna. Since I bought the ticket at the DLTB station, it costs me P99.00 but you can avail the ticket for only P79.00. Sea of Clouds: The Other Worldly Scenery of Benguet

Having no coastline or seaport, Benguet province is confined to freshwaters located in the Southern tip of the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. It is also known as the "Salad Bowl of the Philippines" because of its huge production of upland vegetables. My friends and I were lucky to experience travelling Benguet last October 30, 2015. We left Manila 10:00 o'clock in the evening riding a Victory Liner bus at Pasay City. It was a six (6) hour trip from Manila. We arrived early at Baguio City and rode a jeepney going to Benguet to have our breakfast.  Travelling is fun with amazing friends! The zigzag road brought us to our 1st stop where we took our breakfast. I had a delicious Tender Boiled Beef Soup and rice which cost me P90.00, and it was worth the price. Mt. Batulao: Beginner's Playground

June 27, 2015 - It was my first time dayhiking at Mt. Batulao. It is located at the Evercrest Golf Course, Nasugbu, Batangas. Before climbing I tried contacting Roel, a guide for the New Trail at Mt. Batulao. I saw his number 09279008496 in one of the blogs posted, but unfortunately that number is not his anymore. (haha) Since my apartment is situated nearby, I decided to leave at 4:30 in the morning. I rode a bus from my apartment going to the coastal mall which cost 40 pesos. Upon arriving at the Coastal Mall, I rode an ordinary bus going to Nasugbu Batangas for P90.00 only. I didn't think that the bus that I rode was slow, until I arrived 8:30 in the morning at the Evercrest Golf Course. Upon arriving at the Evercrest, tricycle drivers were already asking me to hire them going to the Jump Off point but I decided to get a guide and we started walking from the Evercrest. Celebrating National Heritage Month in the Philippines

We are celebrating the National Heritage this month of May, under Presidential Proclamation  439 series of 2003, and the National Museum reopened after its renovation. It was easy to navigate around since it was fully air-conditioned. The museum is located near Rizal Park and Intramuros Manila and seeing the Spoliarium is the highlight of my visit, a famous painting  by Juan Luna (often mispelled Spolarium). The Spoliarium garnered the 1st gold medal at the Exposicion Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1884 in Madrid.  The Oil on Poplar depicts about dying gladiators. It currently hangs at the ground floor of the National Museum of the Philippines and it is the first work of art that greets visitors upon entering the museum. Mt. Romelo

It was a good day when a friend invited me for a climb at Mt. Romelo Famy-Siniloan, Laguna. I wasn't sure of what to wear, since I grew up in our mountain at Magallanes, Sorsogon City where we love to hike on foot full of mud, and ride Carabaos with "pakapang" (towed sledge) . So, I left home with a red JanSport backpack (with extra shirts, big bottle of water, biscuits, candies, leggings), wore a printed shirt, a brown pedal pusher which is not advisable for a climb (haha), and my favorite Lee Cooper shoes that is somehow helpful for the climb (invest for good shoes if you want to climb). Who cares anyway, I know for a fact that I can climb a mountain.  We were six on our way to Mt. Romelo, and most of them are Pro-Hikers. Travelling On Foot: "Within the Walls"

Manila is the capital city of the Philippines known for its historical and cultural landmarks in the country. Based from my experience, I never wanted to travel to Manila, because of its heavy traffic and people swarm like bees everyday. Not to mention the heat of sun that will annoy you when summer's coming. But despite it all, I have found the secret to enjoy my travels in Manila. By travelling on foot, I enjoyed every detail of the places that I have seen and  Intramuros  is one of the best places I have been too.  Intramuros is the oldest district in Manila hiding behind the walls when the Philippines was under the Spanish regime. The construction of the defensive walls started during the 16th century to protect the city from foreign invasions.
